Michelle + Paul 5.31.08

Wow, where do I even start with this wedding, amazing location, amazing people, amazing weather.  The wedding of Michelle and Paul took place at Mountain Home Lodge located up on the hills just outside of Leavenworth. We arrived Friday night for the rehearsal and checked in to the hotel to find a surprise left by the couple, a bottle of their favorite champagne for us in honor of my birthday, which was also on their wedding day!

Saturday morning we explored the town of Leavenworth before heading up to the lodge for the wedding. Around noon the clouds starting coming in, creating a nice diffused light which all us photographer’s love.  It was a amazing (and dusty) drive just getting to the lodge which is about 3 miles off a gravel road just outside of town, you could see all the wildflowers blooming everywhere.

Thanks Michelle and Paul for allowing us to spend the weekend with you, we were truly honored to share in your special celebration. Hope you enjoyed your tour of Italy, and your slide show is coming soon!

Fun at Fort Worden – 5.25.08

With no weddings scheduled Memorial Day weekend, I decided that I would host a group shoot at one of my favoraite locations, Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.  It started early in the morning (too early) when we picked up our buddies John and Jenna.  About 2 hours later we arrived at the park.  The group shoot was themed a trash the dress shoot, but in all reality they are almost always more like a fun, artistic, editorial type shoot. The dress rarely gets trashed, although they do end up pretty dirty, but surprisingly then can be returned to near perfect condition with proper cleaning.

About 20 photographers were there, along with three couples, all who were married in the past two years. Special thanks goes to Sheila Birashk for providing hair and makeup services and Laurel’s Floral and Decor for the three beautiful bridal bouquets that were donated.

After and exhausting day we heading our to a local Mexican place for dinner and then back the park where a few of us spent the night in one of the historic officers quarters. The next morning it was on to Port Townsend for breakfast and exploring, we spent most of the day in downtown before heading home.

If I’ve photographed your wedding, and you are interested in doing your own after wedding session, please let me know, as I always have creative ideas in mind.  In many cases your session is also free!

Wendy + Zach 5.23.08

Wendy and Zach first met up with me at the University of Washington campus for their first look. The spot they originally wanted was being taken over with inflatable toys, so we came up with an alternate location on the spot!

After they saw each other, they couldn’t stop smiling, and we took some portraits of them both around campus and then met up with the bridal party at the quad just as it was starting to rain for the remainder of the portraits.  Then it was off to The City Church for family portraits and the ceremony and reception.
