Shaun Paul photo shoot

Here is an image from Monday’s session at Discovery Park in Seattle. This was a session with cellist Shaun Paul, who created the music for my wedding photography website. He was looking for some photos to promote his new album that will be released in late June. We spent about 2.5 hours shooting and only visited a few areas of the park, we will probably go back and do another session later this summer as there were a few ideas we still had not tried and just simply ran out of daylight.

Oh and today was my 34th Birthday! It was fairly uneventful, but did go out to dinner with all the family last night. Today I did manage to plant the last of the calla lilies at the garden. (I recently ordered some new varieties, as if I need any more of them!)

Thursday (tomorrow) morning I have an engagement session with Kim and Brent, so check back in a couple of days for a preview.

Memorial Weekend in Chicago

[gallery]

I arrived in Chicago on Friday afternoon and spent the evening with Bob and Dawn Davis of LaStoria Foto. I had the pleasure of seeing the amazing Legends book they created for Oprah, it was absolutely breathtaking. The two of them make such a creative team, and I can’t wait to see their next creation.

On Saturday, I photographed Sandy and Diego’s wedding in downtown Chicago, where the reception was held at The Sears Tower, with superb views of the entire city. The happy couple is now on an eight and half hour flight to Maui for their honeymoon. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

I then decided to join Bob Davis on Sunday for a wedding in Oak Brook that took place at the beautiful Hyatt hotel grounds on the McDonald’s campus. How many times do you see a bride and groom paddling a canoe on the lake? During this entire weekend, it was a scorching 93 degrees with very high humidity, but I came away with some great shots from both events.

Thanks Bob for the great ideas and I look forward to working with you on future weddings!

Today I edited the images on my flight back home and posted them above for your viewing pleasure. As if this wasn’t enough for a weekend, I topped it all off with an evening photo shoot with musician and composer Shaun Paul at Discovery Park in Seattle. I should have an updated post for Shaun’s photo shoot very soon. Come back in a few days…

Congratulations to Leah and Matt!

Wow, what a wedding on Saturday! I had the pleasure of working with Matt and Leah. They choose the beautiful campus of University of Puget Sound for their ceremony, and the reception was along the Tacoma waterfront at CI Shenanigans.

We had a perfect weather day and my hats off to Leah for planning such a beautiful event (the decorations and flowers were amazing) in such a short time as Leah and Matt were engaged on Valentines Day of this year. They are now enjoying their honeymoon along the Oregon Coast.

Wow, what a weekend!

[gallery]

Well it was another busy weekend; it started off with Anita and Zac’s early morning wedding in Poulsbo at Kiana Lodge. What a beautiful location and great couple. They were one of the most relaxed, easy going couples I’ve worked with to date. I’m so happy Anita wanted to shoot some photos in the morning before the ceremony, as shortly after going inside for the reception, the sky opened up, and it started to rain. I also unexpectedly ran into Shaun Paul, the creator behind the music for my eye4weddings website. He performed the music for their wedding ceremony. Shaun and I are planning to do a shoot for some promotional photos in a couple of weeks.

Right after Anita and Zac left the lodge I packed up my gear and headed back to Seattle to attend Wicked, the 10th Annual Seattle Men’s Chorus/Seattle Women’s Chorus auction. This was my third year in donating a couple’s portrait session for the silent auction which I was pleased to see had several bids.
